Bio (in progress)
22 April 2018 18:18Name: Heinrich Requiem (originally Heinrich Augsburg)
Canon: Requiem Vampire Knight
Content Warning- Requiem contains sexual assault, Nazism and general miscellaneous lesser nastiness.
Synopsis:
When the living die, their souls may be reborn on the bizarre, backwards world Resurrection- there time runs backwards as the old grow younger until they disappear and ones physiology in death is determined by ones philosophy in life. Those many consider the worst are the vampires, the monsters who knew their monstrosity, did not justify or deny it.
Heinrich was a fiercely patriotic WWII German soldier with a Jewish lover, Rebecca. He began to mentally unravel at the irreconcilable aspects of his loves, simultaneously protecting and abusing Rebecca. Eventually when she was taken by the Gestapo he finally snapped as he did nothing to save her and instead hid their relationship. Attempting to escape his guilt, he became a beast and tried to bury his humanity under atrocities. Eventually he was shot in the head by a Russian rape victim who resembled Rebecca. Revived on Resurrection as a vampire, during the traumatic process of being reborn he embraced his false narrative as a simple protector of Germany and mentally suppressed his crimes, asserting the Clean Wehrmacht myth and acting as if it were true, as a noble warrior. For his ferocious battle skills he was inducted into the Vampire Knights, the warriors of Dracula, alongside a vampire named Otto- a fellow Nazi who very much did not subscribe to the Clean Wehrmacht myth. He was dubbed Requiem as his new undead name.
Eventually forced to confront his crimes, he realised he was truly a monster and decided that he deserved the Hell of Resurrection. But that he was going to enjoy it! When it became apparent that Rebecca was also revived on Resurrection, as a lamia- a tormented victim that opposes vampires by hounding and haunting them to madness. The only way to free her is to kill Otto, as he was the one who murdered her. Unable to let go of his past or love, Requiem struggles to confront his own nature and desires. As he so enjoys being a knight of darkness, yet is unable to fight his urge to do the right thing and protect and love Rebecca.
Further complicating matters is that Requiem is the reincarnation of Thurim, a teutonic knight who used the crusades as a cover for his satanism as he used their evil acts as sacrifices. On Resurrection Thurim was Dracula's right hand man but lead an attempted coup. Thurim, much more deviant than Requiem, occasionally possesses Requiem and continues his plot to take control of Resurrection.
Appearance:
A tall, slender man always clad in black with skin white as snow and eyes red as blood. He has a red mark on his forehead that represents the bullet hole that killed him. His body is covered in runic tattoos.
When Thurim takes over, the bullet hole heals but returns when Requiem regains control.
Personality:
Requiem is very odd for a vampire on Resurrection. He believes in honour, nobility and true love- all things which have him labelled a pervert. Rather than revel in decadence, he seeks to fulfil his duties. Unlike most vampires, who acknowledge their own evil and love it, Requiem understands he's an evil bastard but holds back his urges to do the right thing. Despite this, he's willing to commit terrible things under orders from his superiors because he pledged his allegiance to the nation of Draconia and his fellow vampires. He actually upholds the laws of the nation instead of flouting them- with the exception of when they clash with his quest and self-imposed purpose in death to protect and be with Rebecca. Requiem understands entirely the urge to be good comes from his love for Rebecca- and in a reflection of their relationship in life, wishes she was not there but can't stand being without her. As such, freeing her from Resurrection so she can be happy in a new life is both an act of love and selfishness, as it also frees him from restraint.
However, it is important to understand that Requiem is evil. He particularly enjoys vicious violence and how good he is at it. He's also extremely lustful and will turn his head for any good looking woman. He is well aware of these vices. He desperately wants to indulge in his baser desires and often does, though usually only when he has an excuse as part of his duties (self-imposed or otherwise).
When not brooding about his cursed fate in Hell, or about how he cannot escape his quest, he's usually quite cheerful with a dark and devious sense of humour.
Abilities:
Requiem has the basic vampiric powers you'd expect- he's strong, nearly unkillable and possesses deadly fangs. In addition to that, he completed the training to be a Vampire Knight in record time, learning dark magic and becoming master of beasts, transformations and arcane weaponry.
He's especially deadly with a sword and was gifted the Soul Sword during his training for his skill. The sword sees him as its master and will follow his commands, flying to him when needed or to strike its foes. However, its greatest power is clairvoyance. It will show him anything or answer any question- when suitably slaked with blood.
He is also the (unwilling) owner of a Devil's Dictionary ('affectionally' nicknamed Dick). A bird of ill omen, it is a small pterodactyl-like being that knows every dirty deed ever done by anyone and won't shut up about them.
Naturally, he also has the usual vampire weaknesses. He loses his superhuman strength and speed under the sun, even if he protects himself from the damage it can cause using sun oil. Simple water is like acid to him and holy water deadlier still. Holy artefacts are akin to anti-matter to a vampire. Their touch destroys each other unless one is significantly more (un)holy than the other. A suitably desecrated object can counter a sanctified one. He doesn't seem to need to be invited in or sleep in the dirt of his homeland.
When his previous incarnation, Thurim, takes control he regains his prior power of supreme regeneration. Able to put himself back together after being torn into the tiniest of shreds, Thurim took a great deal to kill. Thurim is also capable of using the Malleus Maleficarum, the hammer that once belonged to Lucifer and the source of the destructive power unleashed from the Ark of the Covenant.
